Lois Mary Nielson (nee Ryan), 92, formerly of Batavia, IL, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at the home of her daughter in Lake in the Hills, IL. She was born October 2, 1932 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of the late Cornelius Ryan & Edna Smith Ryan. She attended St. James Grade School in Maywood,IL, Immaculate Conception High School in Elmhurst, IL and Marycrest College in Davenport, IA. She enjoyed being a homemaker, gardening, playing bridge, golfing, seamstress including quilt making, but especially adoring her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are her 4 children, Jan (Jeff) Mills of Williams Bay, Wis, Mike (Mary Fran) Nielson of Fort Wayne, Ind, Mary Sue (Randy) Barnett of Lake in the Hills, Ill, and Barb (Russ) Grollemond of Sycamore, Ill; 9 grandchildren – Tim (Kristy), Kevin (Janine), Carli (Brian), Dan (Sarah), Ryan, Katie, Joe (Brittany), George (Kara), and Sarah (Bobby); and 13 great-grandchildren – Carissa, Betsy, Henry, Isaac, Madelyn, Dominic, Charlotte, Anthony, Alexandra, Liam, Owen, Norah, and Madison; sister of Patricia (Albert) Lorch and Cornelius (Mary) Ryan, sister-in-law of the late Richard (Patricia), Thomas (Sandra) and Peter (Barbara) Nielson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Joseph Nielson and grandson, David Clifford Grollemond.
Funeral Prayers 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Yurs Funeral Home proceeding to St. Patrick Church, 6N491 Crane Rd, St. Charles, IL for a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass. Burial will be at Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, January 13, 2025, from 3 to 8 p.m., at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 E. Main St., St. Charles, IL.
