George Richard "Dick" Isely, Age 86, of St. Charles, Illinois passed away on July 26, 2025. He was born March 21, 1939 in Ironton, Missouri, the son of Charles Christian Isely Jr and Mildred Ashby (nee Loshbough). He was united in marriage to Judith Ann (nee Miller) on August 6, 1961.

He attended college at the University of Missouri where he met his beloved wife Judy. They wed shortly after graduating college. He then entered the Navy and served 5 faithful years flying submarine hunting aircraft over the Atlantic. After his honorable discharge from the navy, he dedicated the next 29 years as a pilot for American Airlines, retiring as a Captain in 1995.

He was also very active in the amateur radio community - call sign W9GIG - including many years with the local radio club and a distinguished period of service on the Board of Directors of the nationwide American Radio Relay League. He has had contacts with many far-flung sites around the world, including once off-world with a fellow ham operator on the Space Shuttle.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles C. Isely III.

He is survived by his wife, 2 children, Michael (Vicki) Isely, Katharine (Michael) Franck, 6 grandchildren, Austin Franck, Matthew (Allison) Isely, Maria Isely, Riley (Bailey) Franck, Noah Franck, Ava Franck, one great grandchild, Killian Isely and a brother, Edwin Isely, many cousins, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 from 2:00 P.M until the time of service at 4:00 P.M at Moss-Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. 3rd Street, St. Charles, Illinois 60174. A burial with military honors will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Illinois on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at 11:00 A.M.
