Lois Picard, daughter of Leona and Arthur Lidberg, was born on June 4, 1944, in Browerville, MN. She was a woman who deeply cared for her family, church and community with love. She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother and grandmother with a kind and generous spirit. She was a lifelong volunteer and active supporter of everything from Meals on Wheels to Loaves and Fishes to Ben's Special Olympics team, the Maplewood Monarchs. She and David were a proud team for over 50 years of marriage, until he preceded her in death in November of 2017. She passed away on April 21, surrounded by family.
Lois is survived by her three children: Jonathan (Kelly) Picard, Jennifer (Greg) Harvey and Benjamin Picard. She is also survived by her mother, Leona Lidberg, and siblings: Larry (Mary), Allen (Liz), Michael (Carol) and Keith (Shelly), as well as sisters-in-law Anne and Mary (Ed). She has five treasured grandchildren: Sol, Katherine, Sofia, Evin and Tessa, as well as many wonderful cousins, nieces and nephews and dear friends.
Lois was a quiet but determined woman. She loved to grow flowers and friendships- always quick to smile and give a genuine compliment. A farm girl at heart, she moved to St. Paul as a child and quickly became an East-sider. She graduated from Johnson High School and worked at the Saint Paul Public Library. After earning a business degree, she worked at Burlington Northern Railroad, the Archdiocese of St. Paul and finally as an administrative assistant at the Franciscan Center for Holistic Living/Woman Well for nearly 20 years. Through the years, she demonstrated her dedication to her family and was a tremendous advocate for Benjamin, as well as a recognized volunteer at Saint Paul Rehabilitation Center for her work in the 1980s.
Lois had a playful spirit and loved a good card game, Mahjong, and volleyball. To know her was to adore the twinkle in her eye, her warmth, her laugh and a little mischief. She will be dearly missed by all.
