Lois Sandstead, 94, of Fort Morgan, Colorado, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Valley View Villa. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 26 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home in Sterling, Colorado with Rev. Spencer Green officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Sterling.
Lois was born September 23, 1929, in Longmont, Colorado, she was the daughter of Bert and Frances Stevens.
Lois married Earl (Bud) Sandstead on December 12, 1947. They moved to Willard, Colorado, where they resided for 54 years. As a devoted homemaker, farmer's wife, and mother, Lois was deeply involved in her family's life and the community, and she was a cherished member of the Willard Methodist Church. She managed the Willard Phone Company and, each spring, worked at Lebsack's Feed and Seed. Her commitment to her children, Dean, Patty, and Gary, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was evident in her presence at every event, big or small.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Maxine (Duncun) Ross, her brother Albert (Mickie) Stevens, and her beloved husband Earl. Lois will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
Lois is survived by her three children: Dean (Linda) Sandstead of Springhill, TN; Patty (Ron) Unrein of Fort Morgan, CO; and Gary (Connie) Sandstead of Platteville, CO. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Marshal (Nicole) Unrein, Brenda (Richie Copenhaver) Moss, Chad (Audra) Unrein, Eric (Jessica) Sandstead, and Matt (Leah) Sandstead, along with 17 great-grandchildren whom she adored.
In lieu of flowers or memorials, the family requests that you take time to enjoy a meal or ice cream with your loved ones and cherish your time together.
