Age 77 of Morris, Illinois, died Sunday, June 8, 2025 at Morris Hospital.

Born July 20, 1947 in Morris, Lois Mae was a daughter of Russell and Lula (Danielson) Ness. She was raised on her family farm, and attended Morris and Newark schools, graduating from Newark High School with the Class of 1965. On October 5, 1968 Lois married Ronald Joseph Severson at West Lisbon Lutheran Church. Lois completed cosmetology school and worked as a hair dresser for several years in Ottawa, Illinois and later out of her home. She also worked as a bus driver for many years for Amboy and Saratoga school districts. Lois also co-owned and operated the Severson Radio Network along with her husband.

She was a member of Fox River Lutheran Church in Sheridan, Illinois for over 40 years where she was an active participant, and enjoyed being a part of her regular bowling league. She found great pleasure in travelling all across the United States with Ron, with her trips to Branson, Missouri and San Antonio, Texas being some of her favorites. She looked forward to trips to state and county fairs where her family would often show cattle.

Lois was endearing to anyone that knew her. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved attending her grandchildren's events whenever she could. Lois was a patient, kindhearted woman who strongly valued her love of God, and had a wonderful laugh that would spread to anyone she was with. Her life infused with love and kindness will be missed dearly by those who loved her and knew her.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Ronald Severson, and her two sons: Eric (Patricia) Severson and Shane (Sarah) Severson, all of Morris; eight grandchildren: Caitlyn (Travis) Wood, Jason Severson, Logan Severson, Nolan Severson, Claire Severson, Trevin Timmons, Ella Timmons, and Eugene Timmons; four great grandchildren, Elijah, Christiana, Isaac, Thomas, with one more on the way; one sister, Rose (Ralph) Walter of Grand Ridge, Illinois; brothers and sisters-in-law: Linda Ness of Ottawa, Illinois, Pat (the late Rich) Severson of Morris, Jeanette (the late Alden) Erickson of Minooka, Illinois; Alvin (the late Lois) Helland of Pleasant View, Illinois, and Lois (the late Robert) Chally of Peru, Illinois; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; three siblings: Norman Ness, Lenford "Doc" Ness, and Judy Ness; brother and sisters-in-law: Betty Bowen, Jack Severson, and Norma Berg; and a daughter-in-law: Shelly (Thompson) Severson.

The family will receive friends at Fox River Lutheran Church, 2785 US Route 52, in Sheridan on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The family would like guests to know that casual attire is acceptable for attending the visitation.
