Lois Marie "Cook" Sifford

Lois Sifford, 92, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025, in Cynthiana, KY. Born October 9, 1932, in Puxico, Missouri, Lois was the child of Ernest and Mattie Burge Cook. Raised in a close-knit farming community, it was in Puxico where she met the love of her life Jack, and they were married on June 3, 1951. For the next 20 years she was the ever doting, and faithful Air Force spouse, traveling the world and raising her three children, Mark, Jackie and Wendy. Lois and family moved to Cynthiana in 1971 after Jack's retirement from the Air Force.
During her more than 50 years in Cynthiana, she supported the endeavors of her three children, the Harrison County High School Air Force Junior ROTC, worked at the Harrison County Water Association, and volunteered at the Harrison Memorial Hospital Gift Shop. Lois was a proud member of the Cynthiana Presbyterian Church and for years was a mainstay in the church choir.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years Jack, parents Ernest and Mattie, as well as her big brother Bill. Her sister Betty and brother Paul (Pat) continue to carry on the Cook legacy. She is survived by son Mark (Mary Ann); daughters Jackie (Bill), and Wendy; five grandchildren, Mark Jr. (Jodi), Bryan, Caitlin, Mattie (Sean), and Caroline (Jake); two great grandchildren, Jackson and Owen; and a host of nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends and remembered for her selfless love and devotion to her children.
Ware Funeral Home will host the visitation on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 9:30 A.M., followed by a brief service at 11:00 A.M., and burial at Battle Grove Cemetery.
