Ms Lola Jane Jones Hitt passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was born January 28, 1938 in Jigger, Louisiana to the union of Rev. Jack and Lola Martin Jones.
Ms Lola Jane graduated Fort Necessity High School in May of 1956 and married her high school sweetheart in June of that same year.
She was known for her love and generosity towards others. She was a very selfless individual, giving of not only her time and her wisdom but helping those in need. She took that love of others into a profession that was tailor made for the woman that she was. She worked 41 years in Franklin Guest home and Charlyn, respectively, as Patient Coordinator. She had a love for her residents that went beyond her position. She had the heart of a servant to help and to reach out to others and that is exactly what she did.
Ms. Lola Jane was a devoted saint of God. Her first love was for her savior Jesus Christ. Her family knew that when it was time for church, she was going. Whatever was going on at the church, she was a part of it. You could never talk about her and separate her from her faithfulness. She wanted to be the first one there and the last to leave. When she suffered in her body later in life and was no longer able to drive herself to and from church, her daughter in law, Lisa (her Pastor's wife), would come by and get her. If they were late, she would close those eyes and hum. If you knew her at all, you knew she was frustrated. When it came to the things of God, the House of God, Ms Lola Jane was serious business. There is a time and place for everything and Church was, and is, God's time.
The greatest gifts that were given to her and that she cherished above all her earthly possessions were her children and grandchildren. Ms. Lola Jane lived and breathed for her family. Everything that was done was with them in mind. She taxied her children to and from ball practices, school programs and games. She helped raise her siblings children, neighborhood children and her children's friends. She was happiest fixing tea cakes and dumplings for her babies. Family get togethers were loud and crowded and she looked forward to each and everyone. If you were not there, you best have a good excuse. If you wanted to be there and were not "family" then by all means, please, come on. Her home was always open and so was her heart.
Ms. Lola Jane enjoyed traveling once her children were grown. She visited every state in the United States except Hawaii, all 4 provinces of Canada and so many places overseas that we are not even sure we could name them all. She would travel by car, bus, plane and several cruises. She'd travel with a friend or family member and if they were not available when she was ready to roam, she'd go alone. You could truly say she was well traveled and she enjoyed every minute of it.
She was by far the most shining example of how to treat others. She was never one to talk down to or to talk bad about another person. She would look for the good in them and try to see through their eyes. While there is no way to condense a persons life into a few paragraphs, her family would like for others to know that she was and will always be the rock that held them together, the voice of reason and a safe place to land. She was an example of how to live and make a life from tremendous hurt and still love and show love to people in need. The loss of this amazing woman will be felt in her family from now until God calls them home to see her again. Truly this day, our loss is Heaven's gain and our sorrow will soon be joy at His appearing. 2 Timothy 1:12...for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
She was preceded in death by her parents Rev. Jack Jones and Lola Martin Jones, a brother Carl "Sonny" Jones, sisters: Jacqueline Parker and Betty Sue Guthrie, the father of her children Larry Hitt, and one great grandchild Michael Chandler Couch.
Ms. Lola Jane is survived by her children, Rev. Hurby Hitt and his wife Lisa, Jeff Hitt and his wife Leslie, Nancy Roberts, Lynn Oliver and her husband Joe, and a special nephew, Rev. Toby Guthrie, all of Jigger, LA; twelve grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Taylor, and a brother, Paul Ray Jones and his wife Kay.
Pallbearers will be Larry Lawson Hitt, Derrick Hitt, Ryan Hitt, Allen Hitt, Zac Hitt and Hunter Hitt.
Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Jigger Apostolic Church.
