Funeral services for Bobby Roy McMurray, 85, of Winnsboro will be held 2 pm Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Temple Baptist Church with Rev. James Lee Busby officiating. Interment will follow in Providence Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Dennard First National Funeral Home. Visitation will be 12 noon until time of service at the church.

Bobby was born December 11, 1939, in Winnsboro to his loving parents the late Earnest McMurray and the late Pauline Dorman McMurray and passed from this life on August 27, 2025, at his residence in Winnsboro.

Bobby was a 1958 graduate of Winnsboro High School then went on to Louisiana Tech University for two and half years where he studied forestry and geology. He went to Idaho for a summer job fighting forest fires; worked with Texaco as a rodman, surveyor, and seismic observer; and in Michigan where he met Raye and married her five years later. Bobby worked for Westinghouse three years where he rewired electric motors; finally moving home to Winnsboro, he worked in the maintenance department at Franklin Medical Center for forty-two years. Bobby enjoyed hunting and fishing in his free time.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Raye McMurray.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Michael McMurray of Winnsboro; his daughter, Melissa McMurray of Winnsboro; four grandchildren: Mason McMurray, Mallory McMurray, Christopher Cook, and Emily Cook; one brother, Bunny McMurray and wife Patricia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Don Armstrong, Lester Acton, David Shirley, Marlon Valentine, Mitchell Valentine, and Joey Westerburg.
