Jan Marie Turner Manno, 67, of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away unexpectedly on August 27, 2025. She lived her life with laughter and love, leaving an unforgettable mark on everyone who knew her.

Born on April 12, 1958, in Jackson, MS, Jan was the first daughter of Roy Turner and Guynell Stockstill Turner Brown. She grew up with a deep and abiding faith that guided her throughout her life.

Along with her faith, Jan had three great loves. The first was her husband, Kenneth “Kenny” Manno, whom she married later in life. Their marriage was filled with joy, laughter, and devotion. A close friend once said Kenny’s love for Jan was like the thrill of a child waiting for Santa—while Jan was Christmas morning itself. Anyone who knew them would agree.

Her second love was her Pomeranians. She adored the breed and cherished her own pups—Baby, Crystal, Mazey, Hotsy, and Manny—as well as her beloved Chihuahua, Abi.

Her third love was LSU sports. A proud Tiger fan, Jan rarely missed a game. She believed LSU was superior to every other team and that any loss could only be blamed on the referees. LSU fans everywhere heartily agreed with her.

Jan was a graduate of Brandon High School and Louisiana Tech University, where she earned a degree in art. Though she was shy about her talent, her creativity shone brightly. She often gifted her paintings to loved ones, and each was received with awe and gratitude.

Jan will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Gina Turner Varady (Mark) of Louisville, KY; her uncle and aunt, David and Dee Stockstill of Mendenhall, MS; her niece, Marisa Turner of Baton Rouge, LA; her niece, Dana Varady Cena (Agim) of Podgorica; her nephew, Sean Varady (Cassie) of Cincinnati, OH; her best friend, Darla O’Connor (Tavia) of Jacksboro, TN; and a host of extended family and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Kenny; her parents, Guynell Stockstill Turner Brown, Roy Turner and her step-father Hilton Brown; and her sister, Joni Turner.

Above all, Jan will be remembered for her kindness, her sense of humor, and her generous heart. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A celebration of Jan’s life will be held at a later date in Baton Rouge, LA.
