Lolita Troyce Brown, born on April 18, 1930, the daughter of the late Ina Ogletree and Clarence Hammond, passed away on May 30, 2025.
Survivors include her three daughters, Betty Hooper (Mike); Terri Brown Watkins (Buck); and Deborah T. Brown; twin sister, Juanita Porterfield; grandchildren, Amber Carmel Meeks (Jeffrey), Brandon Causey, Sara Causey Weeks (Chris), Dan Hooper (Edith), and Trenton Hooper; and numerous great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred William Brown; grandson, Zachary Brown Watkins; siblings, Marguerite Woods, Rev. Curtis Hammond, Kenneth Hammond, and Wayne Hammond.
Lolita was a longtime member of Joy Baptist Church. She worked for a number of years at General Time before ultimately retiring from the University of Georgia’s Registrar’s Office.
A visitation will take place on June 10, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM at Lord & Stephens Funeral Homes in Athens, Georgia, located at 4355 Lexington Road. Interment will follow the funeral service at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
