On July 25, 2024, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Dean Monholland passed away from this life at the age of 92. Born Lometta Dean Clark in Fanshawe, Oklahoma, on May 4, 1932, she was the daughter of Jess J. Clark and Myrtle (Parson) Clark.
Both parents have preceded her in death, as well as her husband of 50 years, Luther Carlton Monholland. She is also preceded by her son, C.J. Monholland, two daughters, Gail Cox, and Carol Rupert, and two granddaughters, Christy Rupert, and Tabitha Joslin.
Dean leaves three children to cherish her memory – Shirley Walker and husband Jay, Gary Monholland, and Judy Joslin; along with 6 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers, William Clark, Bobby Clark, and Doyle Clark, three sisters, Beatrice Madewell, Maxine Macome, and Sue Merrill, and many other loving family and friends.
During her younger years, Dean worked in a candy factory, and later went on to become a Dietary Aide in the healthcare industry. She married Luther C. Monholland, and their partnership was based on respect, shared interests, and unconditional love. They passed along these virtues to their children, and eventually, their grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom Dean absolutely adored. Dean loved spending time with her family. She and Carlton loved playing Bingo together, and after his passing, she enjoyed taking her son along to play with her. She also loved cooking for her family, with her homemade angel biscuits and chocolate sheet cake being her more sought-after specialties.
Dean was always looking out for her family, and she had the unique ability to make each person in her life feel special. She especially loved making her loved one a cake or pie of their choosing on their birthdays. Even after being diagnosed with dementia, Dean was still able to do all the things she enjoyed.
As we reflect upon a life well-lived, let us remember Lometta Dean Monholland for her many accomplishments in life, her loving soul, and for all the good she was able to do in her 92 years on this earth. Dean will be dearly missed, and her memory will live forever in our hearts.
