Lon “Papaw” Pool, age 91, of Lonoke, Arkansas, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 6, 2025. He departed this life peacefully in his home, with his children by his side.
He was born on April 9, 1934, in Lonoke, Arkansas, a son of the late Reuben and Malissia Pool. A beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, and friend, he lived a life full of love, laughter, and faith.
He was a proud second-generation fish farmer, carrying on the vision his father, Reuben, began in 1959. What started as his father’s dream, became a true family legacy—one that continues to thrive today through the fourth generation.
Papaw was known for his quick wit, kind heart, and the twinkle in his eye that could light up any room. He loved his family fiercely and never missed an opportunity to share a story, a joke, or a good laugh. His faith was steady and strong, guiding him through every season of life.
An avid outdoorsman, Papaw found his peace in the quiet of the woods and the calm of the water. Whether he was hunting, fishing, or just sitting outside taking it all in, he felt closest to God surrounded by nature.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, humor, and devotion that will continue to live on through his family and all who were blessed to know him. Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing he is reunited with loved ones gone before and resting in eternal peace.
He is survived by his loving children, Linda (Bubba) Gentry of Lonoke, AR, Becky Wood of Charlotte, NC, Danny (Elaine) Pool of Hot Springs Village, AR, Tina Pool of Maumelle, AR and Ronnie (Melissa) Pool of Lonoke, AR; sister Ruby Gagliano of Lonoke, AR; and her two children, Ted and Dr. Martha Gagliano; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on the evening of Monday, November 10, 2025, at Boyd Funeral Home in Lonoke from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with funeral services to follow the next day, Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the Lonoke Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Papaw by spending time outdoors, sharing a laugh, or telling a good story—just as he would have wanted.
