Lon Weaver Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Waller Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Mar. 30, 2026.
Lon Henry Weaver walked joyously to the Lord on March 29th, 2026 on a beautiful, cool Sunday morning. The funeral service will be Tuesday, April 7, 2026 in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Lonnie Weaver officiating. Graveside service will follow at College Hill Presbyterian Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday prior to the service beginning at 12:00 P.M.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Lonnie Wayne and Dorothy Weaver, and brother, Gary Weaver. He leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Marilyn Jo Weaver, and three daughters Amy (Chris) Stamson, Kimberly (Jeff) Archer, and Jessie (Michael) Holland. He also leaves behind his grandchildren and great grandchildren; Katelyn (Adam) Linville, Jordan (Cade Cowan) Archer, Keelie Stamson, Hunter Stamson, Jennifer Holland, Aubree Holland, Layla Holland, Carolina Linville, Andi Linville, and Luke Linville.

Lon was born in a hurry in Memphis, TN on April 10th, 1953. He was a tree climbing, barefoot kid that rescued snakes. Though born premature and quite small, "Big Lon" was a giant with dark features and freckles. He had a deep southern draw, and always seemed to get a phone call when he had just put his phone in his pants pocket and sat down. He played numerous sports through junior high and high school. He graduated from Oak Haven High School in 1972. His smile was contagious, and he fervently served others. He worked at Coors Brewing Company for 27 years. However, he was built for retirement, and he thoroughly enjoyed it.

Lon undoubtedly broke the mold of men. Lon's character, integrity, and culinary work with a deep fryer and grill were unsurpassed. He was a philanthropist to the misunderstood, an enthusiast of music, and a voice of reason for all. His life was lived in God's creation more than anywhere else. In nature, he grew a respect and deep appreciation for conservation. He was a hunter, a fisherman, and a brilliant teacher in the art of both.

Lon was the first to rise without fail, likewise he was also the very first to fall asleep-even if conversation was still being held. He was a gentleman in white new balance tennis shoes and a killer basketball player with knees that held him back from a more recognized greatness. He taught innumerable folks how to drive a stick shift, and he blew many a speaker. Lon fiercely and without condition loved his family. He was the definition of a friend, his were treated as nothing less than family. He showed his love through his listening ear, his slow to react demeanor, and hugs that were undeniably warm. Home was not a place, but him.

He was first a brother in this life, and it was one of his greatest honors. Together they survived hardships, tall tales, and questionable adventures side by side … and in true older brother fashion, he ensured his brother never knew an earthly minute without him.

Lon was betrothed to his beautiful bride, as he often said endearingly, Marilyn, in September of 1976. They met at a Marshall Tucker Band, Charlie Daniel's, and Lynard Skynard concert, when happenstance originally sat her in the wrong seats with the wrong man friend, as well. The conversation with the charmer behind her lead to him pursuing her phone number. However, He waited a week to call her after their first date, and she never let him forget. He was devoted to her and often looked at her picture on his side table to point out just how pretty "his bride" was. They enjoyed rides to the lake at sunset, riding the emotional rollercoaster that is being an Ole Miss Fan, and sitting in the shed just enjoying one another and reminiscing on the simple times that meant the most. Their partnership fed those around them with many a meal and laughter- true soul work. They were undeniably soulmates.

They built a family together that withstood taxing times and those of reward. Lon was a girl dad - in every sense of the term. He sheltered them from adversary, and he set the bar for how women should be cared for. Lon Weaver wrote the book on tenderness, kindness, and overall good nature. His journey as a father reflected this in the utmost high. His sons-in-law were much more than married-in members, but men he took in to hold court with, love dearly as his own, and share many a beverage.

Becoming a grandfather was a privilege and role that he took on with great pride. He paced many a waiting room awaiting their arrivals- worrying and praying both for his girls and his new grandbabies. He built a relationship with each of his grandchildren that reflected their unique personalities- he saw his grandchildren for who they were and the enrichment they brought to his and Marilyn's life.

He was many things in this life that words won't ever properly capture, and any attempt is an injustice. The magnitude of his impact is far too great. One statement will ring true from now until our eternal reunion… he will be missed and lovingly remembered. Hotty Toddy!
