Lonnie Hosea Brinson, affectionately known to many as "L.H.", passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025, at the age of 90 in his beloved Onslow County, where he was also born on March 19, 1935. A cherished son of the late Joseph Jefferson Brinson, Sr. and Ruth W. Brinson, L.H.'s life was one marked by dedication to family, country, and community.
L.H. honorably served in the United States Army, exemplifying a deep commitment to his nation. Upon returning home, he immersed himself in the warmth of family life and the loving embrace of the Haw Branch Methodist Church, where he was a devoted member.
A loyal husband to his beloved wife Jean Edwards Brinson, with whom he shared over 70 years of being together, L.H. was a nurturing father to his children: Brian H. Brinson (Melinda) of Pinhook, NC, Cathy Allen (Ronnie) of Richlands, and Ann Pike of Trenton, NC. He was also a doting grandfather and "Pa" to Randall Jones, Ryan "Nick" Jones, Erin Ross, Amanda Brinson, Zack Allen, and Justin Brinson, and a proud great-grandfather to Taylor Jones, Carter Jones, Finley Jones, and Saylor Ross. He also leaves behind his beloved sister Shelby Howard of Richlands, and a very special friend Sammy Jones who are among those who will continue to cherish his memory.
L.H. was preceded in death by his parents and his dear brother Joe Brinson, Jr., with whom he shared countless nights hunting raccoons. This pastime with his brother was just one reflection of a life filled with simple joys and enduring bonds.
A true jack of all trades, L.H. could often be found tinkering in his building, crafting and repairing everything from lawn mowers to full gazebos. He possessed an innate ability to fix or build almost anything, leaving behind tangible reminders of his skill and creativity.
Above all, L.H. was a devoted "Pa" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, instilling in them values of love and integrity.
Services to honor and celebrate the life of Lonnie Hosea Brinson will be held on Thursday, June 5th at 1:30 PM at the Haw Branch Methodist Church with Matt Jackson and Ray Randall officiating. Interment will follow at Onslow Memorial Park of Jacksonville. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30, one hour prior to the service.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and unwavering devotion to family.
