Lonnie Ewing, age 61, of Carlyle, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital in Breese, Illinois.

Lonnie was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on March 23, 1964, the son of the late John Ellis and Annie (Clay) Ewing. He graduated from Central High School in St. Louis and later attended St. Louis University. He married Ina Knox on February 10, 2001, and they later divorced.

Lonnie is survived by his children: Ky Ewing, Zavion Ewing, Ebony Willis-Ewing, AJ Willis, Devin Knox, Leron Andrews, and Britney Reed; and by his cherished grandchildren: LeShawn Andrews, Liyah Andrews, Nevaeh Andrews, Jeron Andrews, Jaida Andrews, Briannah Reed, Brooklyn Reed, Akeelah Knox, Laila Knox, Devin Knox Jr., Luca Willis, Kamryn Goodin, Anthony Willis Jr, and Jeremiah Willis.

He is also survived by his siblings: Bruce (Phoebe) Ewing, Diane Ewing, Carol (David) Ewing, Melvin (Sheila) Ewing, and Ronnie Ewing; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents, John Ellis and Annie Ewing, a brother, Fred Ewing, and a sister-in-law, Ray.

Throughout his life, Lonnie worked at Altec, BJC Healthcare, and Life Care, taking pride in every job he held. A faithful member of Life Church, he loved serving as an usher and being part of his church family. Lonnie was happiest when he was BBQing, cheering on his favorite teams, or playing cards, but nothing meant more to him than his family. His greatest joy was being surrounded by his children and the many grandchildren who lit up his world.

A Memorial Service will be held at Life Church (16580 Old State Rd, Carlyle, IL 62231) at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 22, 2025.
