Lonnie Earl Harrison, 67, of Las Cruces, NM gained his angel wings on Monday, December 11, 2023, after battling kidney disease. Lonnie was born on July 8, 1956, in Brazito, NM to James Earl Harrison and Vada Lea Griffith Harrison. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Robin Armitage Harrison, sons Aaron (Amanda) Harrison of Las Cruces, Adam (Jennifer) Harrison of Rossville, GA, and daughter Amber Harrison of Las Cruces. He has four grandchildren Elexis Maese, Luke Weber, Scarlett Harrison, and Savannah Harrison. He has three brothers Leon Harrison, Leonard (Brenda) Harrison, and Leland (LaQuita) Harrison, and sister-in-law Rhonda Armitage all of Las Cruces. He has numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Vada Lea Harrison, sister Lavon Harrison Williamson, in-laws Roger Armitage, Rosalie Visintainer Armitage, and brothers-in-law Ryan and Russell Armitage.
Lonnie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend. He was a lifelong mechanic, farmer, and fabricator of all things. Over the years he enjoyed spending time with his family at the Southern New Mexico Speedway where he was crew chief for his son Aaron who raced street stocks and his nephew Isley who raced quarter midgets. He also enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, working on tractors and cars, building anything and everything imaginable, collecting his treasures (junk to his family), working on the farm, and most importantly spoiling all the kids. His nephew, Isley Myrick, was his little shadow when fixing things and partner in crime who could convince his uncle to do anything. Lonnie cared about people and was always willing to lend a hand.
Over the past few years as he battled kidney failure, he was cared for by his daughter, Amber along with the help of his older brother Leon.
Services will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024, at 10am at Perches LaPaz-Grahams Chapel, 555 West Amador, Las Cruces, NM followed by graveside services for the burial of the ashes at Missionary Ridge Cemetery in Mesquite, NM. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Mesilla Valley Hospice.

I am sorry to hear of Lonnie's passing. We were in Auto Mechanics together at LCHS, and Lonnie was a standout classmate: always offering a helping hand and adding a smile to go with it. He was just an all-around good-natured person.
