Obituary
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our father, Lonnie A. Simpson on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. Lonnie was born on July 1, 1932 in Sharon, Pennsylvania to the late James and Anna Simpson. He lived his childhood days in Brookfield, Ohio. He entered the United States Air Force in the enlisted ranks and rose to become a Major. He loved flying. He originally flew the B-47 bomber and was chosen to retire one of the planes at Davis Monthan in Arizona. After this he began flying the KC-135 in Vietnam, where he served for 3 years flying over 200 successful combat missions. He was also a Command Instructor Pilot. After 23 years in the Air Force he retired and worked for Rockwell International teaching classes on the B-1 Bomber. Later, he became District Manager for Metropolitan Life Insurance and finally a personal banker at Huntington Bank. Lonnie enjoyed being a Mason and president of Camp Fire, USA for many years. He loved spending time with his family at the cottage he built with his father-in-law in 1956. Lonnie is preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Grace Moore Simpson, Goddaughter Viki Miller, Brother James Simpson. He is survived by his daughter Lori (John) Buchanan and son Scott Simpson, as well as his grandchildren Rachel Buchanan, Paige Buchanan, Bridget Buchanan, Hilary Simpson, Jennifer Billingsley, Julie (Pete) Waddell and many great-grandchildren.
