Remembering Lonnie

On April 29th 2025 Lonnie was called home to be with the lord, while we had him for a little while, we are blessed to have known and loved one so truly full of life.

Lonnie D. Walker was born on August 28th 1954 to the late Louise Stovall and Albert Walker II. From an early age, Lonnie displayed a remarkable spirit of compassion and resilience. At the age of 24, Lonnie relocated to Peekskill/Ossining, New York, from Charlotte County, Virginia. On August 17th, 1991, after several years of dating and 11 days before his birthday, Lonnie and Geneva tied the knot. He dedicated his life to serving others, whether through his career providing services for the seniors, with the Town of Ossining for over 20 years before retirement or in his involvement with Myers Movers moving company in Peekskill, NY where he worked for 27 years. Known for his warm smile and generous heart, he touched the lives of everyone he encountered. Lonnie was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a family orientated man. His unwavering faith was a guiding light to his family and community, his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Lonnie enjoyed traveling on family road trips to Virginia and socializing with his friends and family. He often spoke of his friends, Miles, Billy, Jake and Jimmy P, whom he was friends with for 35+ years upon moving to NY. He was well known for his contagious smile and positive energy. He enjoyed watching classic westerns and ending his calls with Get off my line! Lonnie enjoyed participating in all his children's and grandchildren's lives. He was a lover for The Big Horn, we'll never forget the time he was surprised with a Dodge truck and he said THIS ISN'T NO RAM! He also loved a nice crisp yankee fitted and some air force ones. Lonnie enjoyed retirement and spending time with his family and his wife, Geneva Walker.

Lonnie will be remembered for his love of family, his dedication to his faith, and his endless kindness to others. His legacy of love, faith, and service will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

Lonnie leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of 33 years Geneva Walker, his children Brian Wharton, Natima Lawrence, Lonnie D. Walker Jr. and Michael D Walker. 9 grandchildren Noreanna, Lai-lani, Elijah, Isaiah, Mason, Zayden, Michael, Cayvon, and Legend. His father Albert Walker II, Sisters Francis Hale, and Patrica Walker Brothers Larry Walker, Albert Walker III, Thomas Walker, Eddie Walker, Kenneth Walker, and Jamond Seymour. Nieces, Nephews and a host of other relatives, and friends. Lonnie was predeceased by his mother, Louise Stovall, Sister, Cornella Hughes a.k.a Pinky, and brother, William Hale.
