Mrs. Lora 'Lynn' Dixon Jones, 76, wife of 40 years to the late Jimmy Lee Jones, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at her residence on Broad River in Tignall.
Born in Elberton on July 15, 1948, Lynn was the fourth child of the late Jim Henry Dixon and Lorena Hammond Dixon, and joined siblings Syretha, Jimmy, and Gail, completing the family. She was a 1966 graduate of Elbert County High School and a faithful member of Welcome Wesleyan Church.
Lynn worked for many years at Elberton Mills; however, she is most remembered as a paraprofessional at Falling Creek Elementary School, from where she retired after 28 years of service. She loved her family dearly, and cherished her time fishing with her beloved husband Jimmy.
Surviving are her children: Shannon Johnson and Kim Jarski of Suwanee and Jamie and Jason Keblish of Elberton; step-son, Ronnie and Joye Jones of Clayton; sister, Gail Dixon of Elberton; grandchildren: Kyle and Amanda Jones, Jimmy Jones, Jessica Jones and Nick Schlager, Ashley Johnson, Amanda Johnson, Charlee and Abel Leal, Jake Keblish, and Lina Keblish; five great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Along with her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings and their spouses: Syretha and Grady “Bud” Cline and Jimmy and Doris Dixon; and step-son, David Jones.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 9, from 1:00-1:45p.m. at Berry Funeral Home. Funeral services, officiated by Pastor Travis Cox and Pastor Tim Adams, will follow at 2:00p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery. Pallbearers will include, Kyle Jones, Jimmy Jones, Jake Keblish, Abel Leal, Nick Schlager, and Taylor Powell.
Flowers are accepted, and contributions may be made in her memory to Nancy Hart Nursing Center, 2117 Dr. George Ward Road, Elberton, GA 30635.
