Lora Tischer Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 21, 2025.
Lora Evelyn Tischer passed away on August 20, 2025 at the Oakes Good Samaritan Society.

Lora was born in rural LaMoure County on June 19, 1931 to Theodore and Mildred (Cox) Wagner

Lora married Norman Tischer and they made their home and farmed near Grand Rapids, ND. To this union they had four sons, Craig, Brent, Dann and Scott.

Lora spent many years as a farm wife and a homemaker. As her sons got older, she ventured out and got a job in 1975 serving LaMoure County as an In-home care specialist which she did for 26 years. She retired from her position with LaMoure County in 2001. She then went back to being a homemaker until Norman passed away in 2004 at which time she applied for and got Norman's job as caretaker for the City of LaMoure dump ground where she worked until 2021. She also was very involved with sewing together quilt blocks for various church quilting groups in the surrounding area. She loved doing jigsaw puzzles and showing them off to whomever was interested.

Lora suffered a small stroke in February 2022, and she would spend the rest of her time at the Good Samaritan Society in Oakes, ND giving the nurses and other residences a hard time.

Left to mourn her passing are her sons, Craig (Dee) Rapid City, SD, Brent (Karen Siebers) Green Bay, WI, two sisters Alice Raatz, and Virginia Schmitz from Oakes, ND.

Lora was preceded in death by her husband Norman, son's Dann and Scott, parents Ted and Mildred, brothers Virgil, Newton, Pete, Donald, David and Roger Wagner; sister Carolyn Gemar; brothers in law Marvin Raatz, Floyd Schmitz, and Harold Gemar; sister-in-law Orla Wagner; nephews Arlen Wagner, Jayme Gemar, and great-nephew Micah Wagner.

Lora was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids, ND. At Lora's request cremation has taken place and no memorial service is planned at this time.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made to the donor's choice or plant a tree.
