Loren Layne Worman, age 86, a resident of Hale, Missouri, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by his family.
Loren was born the son of Charles and Lois (Yentoch) Worman on September 7, 1938, in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He was a 1956 graduate of Bethel High School, Pennsylvania. During his senior year of high school, Loren won the Chicken of Tomorrow Award at State FFA Convention, which brought him to Missouri, for the first time. Loren was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Via on May 30, 1959, in Strausstown, Pennsylvania. To this union, six children, Gary Layne, Gordon Scott, Lori Ann, Anita Jean, Faron Scott, and Daniel James were born. She preceded him in death on March 23, 2013.
On December 8, 2017, Loren was united in marriage to Jovie Sumaya in Iowa. To this union three daughters were born, Joren Reign, Danielle Beacelma, and Bheley Lorenne.
After traveling the United States to find a home for his business, he made Missouri his home in 1973. His parents along with his sister and her family followed him to Missouri.
He was a man of many talents, occupations, and hobbies, holding multiple jobs throughout his life and bringing skill, dedication, and versatility to everything he pursued.
He worked as a Journeyman Apprentice for Parish of Dana Corp for several years, he owned and operated Hale Meat Locker, as well as Mid-America Pyramid Heating. Lastly, Loren worked as a truck driver for OTRX Trucking.
Loren loved to travel, having traveled to all 50 states and over 20 countries overseas. He had a passion for bicycle riding and motorcycle riding. He rode his motorcycle 10,000 miles in one month and over 9,000 miles in 18 days on a round trip from Pennsylvania to Alaska. He would ride his bicycle to Bosworth several times a week, which was a trip of over 20 miles. He enjoyed photography, welding, collecting antiques, and putting together model airplanes that could fly. Loren had a strong Christian faith. His unwavering dedication to his faith was evident in over 40 years of devoted Bible study, translating the Bible from Greek and Hebrew, and the completion of multiple 40 day fasts, reflecting a life deeply committed to spiritual growth and discipline.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Jovie of Hale, Missouri; four sons, Gary Worman of Hale, Missouri, Gordon Worman (Martina) of Hale, Missouri, Faron Worman (Misty) of Chillicothe, Missouri; Daniel Worman (Kattie) of Hale, Missouri; five daughters, Lori McLaughlin (Patrick) of Dawn, Missouri; Anita Grant (Shane) of Hale, Missouri; Joren Worman, Danielle Worman and Bheley Worman of Hale, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren, Jaci Whiteside, Katie Worman, Trenton Worman, Alexy Van Houtan, Lauryn McLaughlin, Tristyn Grant, Drake McLaughlin, Layne Worman, Madison Worman, Alisyn Worman, Emily Worman, Lily Worman, Charli Jo Worman, Presley Worman, and Henley Worman; nine great grandchildren, Grant Sheetz, Bryson Briner, Mason Briner, Faryn Whiteside, Alice Van Houtan, Margo Shockey, Emrys Van Houtan, Calvin Moore, Monroe Worman; one brother, Wayne Worman (Glenda) of Bernville, Pennsylvania; one sister Charlene Berger (Garry) of Hale, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by first wife Barbara Worman, his parents, and brother, Charles John (Sonny) Worman.
Graveside services will be held at Hale Memorial Gardens, Hale, Missouri, on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. There is no scheduled visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the Loren Worman Memorial Fund (please make checks payable to Jovie Worman) and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
