Funeral Service for Mrs. Lorene Tidwell, 91, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 10:00 am at the Alex City Church of Christ. Minister Chris Tidwell, Minister Brendan Chance will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 8, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Bertha Lorene Tidwell was born to James W and Pearl Trussell Stephens on December 2, 1932 in Alexander City where she lived all her life. She was a member of the Alexander City Church of Christ. She loved the Lord and his church and loved to work with her church family. She was a good cook and enjoyed cooking for others. She was a big Alabama fan but enjoyed watching all SEC teams play.
She was happiest when she was with her family. She is survived by one son, James Kennon "Kent" Tidwell, wife Donna of Lebanon, Tennessee, and two daughters, Gloria Jean Lamborne, husband Robert, and Karen Denise Engstrom.
Six grandchildren - Rhonda Michelle Lewis, husband Paul, Brian Keith Strickland, wife Donna, Pamela Denise Peercy, husband Chris, James Scott Tidwell, wife Kathy, Michael David Engstrom, wife Ginger, Kevin Lee Engstrom, wife Libby.
Fourteen great grandchildren - Geordan Paige Lewis, Ryleigh Michelle Lewis, Keely Nicole Strickland, Erica Marie Strickland, Elijah Lee "Eli" Randolph, Hannah Kate Randolph, Baylor Michael Leak, Ella Grace Leak, Josh Owen Smith, Austin Dwayne Smith, Hanna Grace Smith, Ethan Matthew Mescher, Emily Lynn Mescher, and Hunter Bryce Tidwell.
One sister - Jean Forbus. She is also survived by a great number of nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Willard Tidwell, her parents, James and Pearl Stephens, two sisters, Marie Berry Brewer and Jeanette Clark Talley, one son in law, Bobby Engstrom.
