SFC, US Army (Ret), Lorenzo D. Farnham passed away on the 24th day of April, 2024. He was in his 85th year. He is survived by his son, Dr. Lorenzo D. Farnham-Becerra who resides and practices in the Republic of Panama; his daughter, Karen J. Harris and son-in-law, David Harris; two beloved grandchildren, Ryan and Lillian; and a beloved great grandson, Aaron.
SFC Farnham was born in St. Johnsbury, VT in 1939. The family moved to upper New York state in 1942 where he lived until 1956 when he joined the Army.
For the next 21 years, SFC Farnham was stationed mostly in foreign countries. He had two tours in Korea, two tours in Panama, three years in Germany, and three years in Vietnam.
SFC Farnham retired in 1977 at Fort Leonard Wood. He moved to Rolla and joined the Rolla Police Dept. In 1979 he resigned and moved to Dallas, TX where he decided to get to know this nation for which he had served for 21 years. He moved from Dallas to Eugene, OR, Reno, NV, then back to up state New York, living several years in each location. In 2013 he decided it was time to return to Rolla and rejoin his friends and family.
A graveside service for SFC (Ret) Lorenzo Farnham will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 3, 2024 at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Waynesville, MO. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 2 at the funeral home.
SFC Farnham requests that, in remembrance, donations to the Rolla Animal Shelter building fund and to the building fund of the Rolla Veterans Memorial Park be made in his name.
