CROSWELL- Lores passed away unexpectedly from an apparent heart attack on March 19, 2024 and has now gone to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was born September 6, 1935 to Harold (H.H.) and Edna (Spencer) Brown. Lores grew up in Croswell, MI and graduated from Croswell Lexington HS in 1953. She married Arnold Kettlewell on May 1,1954. They were married for 60 years when Arnold passed away in 2014. They lived in Croswell all of their married lives and Owned/Operated Kettlewell's Market for many years. Lores moved to Lexington in 2014 and loved her home in the Greenbush Subdivision. She loved to watch the deer, ducks and other wildlife behind her house.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Croswell and the American Legion Women's Auxiliary. She loved golfing (and did so, well into her 80's), walking, playing cards, listening to music (and dancing), putting together puzzles and helping people! She had a very caring spirit and never wanted to hurt anyone. She always offered to help if she was able.
In her younger years she would hunt, golf, snowmobile, camp (in their motorhome), play cards (in several card clubs) and was somewhat of a daredevil as she was even seen "tubing" behind the boat at her 50th wedding anniversary family outing.
Most of all though she loved people and especially loved to be around family. She was very close to her long time best friends Gale (Kettlewell) Lindke and Verle (Thibadeau) Hughes. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends and caretakers Tammy & Laurie Durecka and neighbors Donna Riley and Betty Harvey. The family would like to thank all of them for the love and care that they shared with our Mother and Grandmother Lores.
A very special thank you goes to Jane Kettlewell (Lores' Daughter) who moved in with Lores and took care of her most every night and morning ;. Which allowed Lores to remain in her home in lieu of an assisted living facility in the latter years of her life.
She is survived by her children: Michael (Lanae) Kettlewell, Jill (Lee) Martus and Jane Kettlewell. Grandchildren: Cody (Val) Martus, Chelsea Martus, Adam (Kate) Kettlewell, Austin Kettlewell and step-grandchildren Jason VanDerMaas and Jennifer (Mike) Holes. Additionally 11 Great-grandchildren from those listed above. Also an exchange student daughter from Germany Mechtild Ehses Flohr. Lores and Arnold visited Germany many times to enjoy time with their overseas daughter and family. Lores is also survived by the following siblings and/or in-laws: Sister-in-law Pat (Brown) Johns, MaryLu Webster, Joan Filbeck, Linda Kettlewell, Brother-in-laws: Robert (Delma) Kettlewell, Ralph (Donna) Kettlewell, James Kettlewell. She was preceded in death by her husband Arnold Kettlewell, granddaughter Mariah Martus. Her brothers Harold Brown and Grant Brown. Brother-in-laws Tom Kettlewell, William Webster and Dale Filbeck. Sister-in-laws: Carol Kettlewell, Pat (Lauth) Brown & Ruth Kettlewell
