Loretta Ausburger Obituary

WILLIMANTIC

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Loretta Ann Ausburger, who left this world peacefully on February 18, 2026, at Backus Hospital, surrounded by her beloved husband, David Ausburger. Born on March 3, 1956, in Willimantic, Connecticut, Loretta devoted her life to caring for others, leaving a profound impact as a dedicated home health care worker with the VNA.

Loretta is survived by her loving husband, David. She will be deeply missed by her brother, William Rioux, and sister-in-law, Sharon Vannier, as well as her sister-in-law, Donna Herbert. She cherished her roles as a mother-in-law to Cole Koppisch and as a grandmother to her beloved grandson, Rory. Loretta also leaves behind her stepsister, Amelia Simoneau, along with many cherished nieces and nephews- Heidi, John, Brittany, Mike, Leslie, Wade, Hannah, and Shaina.

Loretta attended Lyman Memorial High School and demonstrated her compassionate spirit throughout her life, first as a dental assistant and later thriving in her role as a home health aide. She found joy in the simple things, from spending time at her cabin in Maine to the thrill of boating with David and the excitement of trips to Mardens and Atlantic City.

She is predeceased by her father, William Rioux, and her mother, Lillian Rioux, her niece, Nichole Rioux, as well as her stepsister and stepbrother, Donna Nichols and Robert Shibenski, and her Aunt Pauline Haddad.

Services for Loretta will be held privately, as her family treasures the warmth of shared memories and reflect on the love she brought into their lives.
