Loretta S. Boyd, age 74 of Mansfield, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Winchester Terrace Nursing Center. She was born on December 23, 1950, in Morehead, Kentucky, to the late Arlie and Margie (Wallace) Gibbs.
Loretta spent her life caring for her family, and she was a lifelong believer in Jesus Christ. She loved birds, fish, and dogs, and she had several of them as pets throughout the years. She enjoyed going to Bingo, and she was the type of woman who made friends wherever she went. You could often find her decorating her house, and you could always find her chewing her favorite pink bubblegum. She loved her coffee, her crossword puzzles, and her country music, too. Above all else, she loved her family and friends. She was known for her beautiful smile, her blue eyes, and her childlike heart, and she will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews Justina (Joseph) Gibbs-Wylie, Joni (Leroy) Mason, Judy Carroll, John Schoenfelt, Samantha Gibbs, Kachita Gibbs, Roger L. Carroll, Elden Lee Carroll, and Roger Ransom Gibbs; her siblings Ray Gibbs, Wendell Gibbs, Penny (Gibbs) Pilo, Roger Gibbs, Beatrice Carroll, Trina Gibbs, Billy Gibbs, Betty Gibbs, Charlene Purnell, and Lisa Fraley; and the many friends she made throughout the years.
She was preceded in death by her son Jeff Gibbs; her brother Charles Gibbs; her parents Arlie and Margie Gibbs; her nieces Jody Schoenfelt and Nellie Price; and her beloved dogs Chichi, Bandit, and Chloe.
At this time, no formal services will be observed.
Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield, is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
