Loretta Mae Jarrell, aged 77, previously of Grand Ledge, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, August 16th, 2023, at her residence in Lansing, Michigan. Her valiant fight against cancer and other significant medical challenges in the recent years showcased her unwavering determination, resilience, and bravery as she always confronted life's trials with a smile.
Loretta was born on September 21st, 1945, in Huntington, West Virginia, to David and Anna Rose. She married her beloved husband, Larry D. Jarrell, on April 14th, 1962. Their union was blessed with four children: Rodney (Michelle), Christi, Robert (Regina), and Tracy Jarrell. This loving family expanded to include eight grandchildren: Brittany, Shelby, Hannah, Amanda, Leah, Emily, Joshua (Ashley), and Jordan. Adding to the legacy were four great-grandchildren: Nevaeh, Tiana, Anaya, and Ira. Loretta is also survived by one sibling, Michael Rose.
Loretta has now reunited with Larry in Heaven after his passing in 2018 from cancer, as well as with her parents, siblings, and one grandchild.
In addition to cherishing moments with her family and friends, Loretta had a passion for embracing her artistic spirit. Whether she was painting, gardening, sewing, singing, or cooking, every one of her creations was a true masterpiece. Following her retirement from the John Henry Company after 25 years, she and her husband began a tradition of spending their winter months in Palmetto, Florida.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the City Rescue Mission of Lansing, 2216 S Cedar St, Lansing, MI 48910 in memory of Loretta Jarrell. The family is being served by the Mills Funeral Home, Peters & Murray Chapel.
