Loretta Birk Monjaras

Loretta Birk Monjaras, a lifelong resident of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was called Home to Jesus on December 22, 2023, at the age of 86. She was born Loretta Jones on April 15, 1937, to Fannie and Harmon Jones. Mrs. Monjaras was a longtime and faithful member of Rancho Village Baptist Church in Oklahoma City.
A graduate of Capitol Hill High School, Loretta had a lengthy and rewarding career as a Civil Engineer, retiring from Tinker Air Force Base after 33 years of dedicated service. She was an exemplary employee during her time with Tinker, always working her hardest to provide for her family. Loretta enjoyed keeping her yard looking immaculate, trips to the casino (especially Riverwind in Norman and the Hard Rock in Tulsa), and watching Thunder basketball and Sooners football. She also looked forward to each new season of America's Got Talent.
Classy and sassy, Loretta was a very giving, kind, and beautiful person. She simply glowed when she walked into a room, her kindness radiating from her very being. Her personal motto, was in fact, 'Kill them with kindness!" Her sweet, loving personality earned her many friends over the years, but her kindness wasn't just reserved for the family and friends she adored – it was for everyone.
Family was everything to Loretta, and she loved nothing more than spending time with the people she cherished. Whether she and David were taking the grandkids on vacation, having the family over to swim or cookout, or getting everyone together to celebrate the holidays, Loretta was always happiest when she was with her beloved family. She particularly treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom were her absolute world. Loretta was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a true friend to so many. Her genuine love for others, kindness to all, and her zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her son, Michael Stearman, and her granddaughter, Tamara Stearman.
Loretta is survived by her loving husband, David Monjaras, of the home; her son, Steve Stearman and daughter-in-law Lisa of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one sister, Wanda Galpin of Oklahoma City; Eight grandchildren, including the granddaughters she raised: Amber Stearman, Ashley Stearman, Meagan Stearman, Jaycee Stearman, and Brylie Hise; along with her daughter-in-law, Vicki Stearman, eleven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and many more loving family and friends.
