Loretta (Scappaticci) Przekop, 81, of
Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026, with her loving family by her side.
Born in
Dearborn, Michigan, Loretta lived a life defined by determination, devotion, and deep love for her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerome E. Przekop.
Affectionately known as "Chickie," a nickname lovingly given to her by her father that stayed with her throughout her entire life, Loretta carried that warmth and spirited nature into every room she entered. To many, she would always be Chickie - vibrant, strong, and full of heart.
She is survived by her loving children: Jacqueline Deutch and her husband, Martin Deutch; Jerome T. Przekop and his wife, Laura Przekop; and Jami Przekop Buchanan and her husband, Chad Buchanan. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Helene Deutch, Abigail Przekop, and Jocelyn Deutch, who brought immense joy to her life.
Loretta was a cosmetologist from the remarkable age of 14, a career that became both her passion and her legacy. She began by building her business in the basement of her family home, and in the early 1990s, when Henry Ford Retirement Village was established, she opened three salons within that community. Through grit, resilience, and an unwavering work ethic, she built a thriving business and retired in 2023 at the age of 79. She worked tirelessly to achieve her goals and was a living example of perseverance and self-made success.
To Loretta, family was everything. She often reminded her children and grandchildren that "family comes first" and encouraged them to stick together no matter what. Her greatest pride was the closeness and strength of her family.
She had a deep appreciation for beauty - she loved getting her hair done, wearing perfume, applying makeup, and spending time with friends and loved ones. She carried herself with grace and positivity in every season of life. Even after being diagnosed with cancer two years ago, she approached it as just another obstacle to navigate. She remained hopeful and determined, often saying she was not ready to go anywhere and fully intended to get better.
Loretta was a deeply spiritual woman who believed that God lives within each of us. She lived by the principle of treating others with love and peace and embodied that belief every day.
Her strength, faith, determination, and unwavering love will continue to guide and inspire all who were blessed to know her. She leaves behind a legacy of resilience, beauty, unity, and enduring devotion to family.
From her children and grandchildren: Mom, your love is the foundation of who we are. We will carry your strength, your faith, and your reminder that family comes first with us always. We promise to stay together, just as you taught us. We love you forever.
