Loretta Jean Samol

Jean Samol, 90, of Sharpsville, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024, in Sharon Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Samol was born on January 1, 1934, in Wheatland, PA, a daughter of the late George and Julia (Dvoryak) Gancsos. She was a 1952 graduate of Farrell High School.
She enjoyed spending her Fridays volunteering at the Salvation Army, Sharon, and for several years led a bible study group at Mertz Towers, Sharpsville.
Her husband of more than 60 years, Andrew Samol, whom she married on February 23, 1952, passed away on July 6, 2012. The two of them were car enthusiasts and loved collecting, showing and riding in their antique cars. Jean was a former member of the American Antique Car Association.
She was also an animal lover, especially Golden Retrievers.
She is survived by a daughter, Lori Candiotti, Hermitage; a son, Ron Samol, Sharpsville; a brother, Kalmon Gancsos and his wife Brenda, Cape Hatteras, NC; and a sister-in-law, Sophie Baumgartner, Hermitage.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by a son, Roger Samol; a son-in-law, Dennis Candiotti; and a sister, Connie DePreta.
The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the Shenango Valley Animal Shelter, 2599 Broadway Rd., Hermitage, PA 16148.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, in the funeral home, with Rev. Anthony Kladitis, officiating.
Interment: Riverside Cemetery, Hermitage.
