Loretta Schenke Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Healy Chapel Funeral & Cremation Services - Sugar Grove Facility on Aug. 23, 2022.
Loretta M. Schenke passed to her heavenly home on Monday, August 22 at the age of 84. Loretta was born on February 18, 1938 to parents Joseph and Josephine Sears and her siblings Shirley Fiebernitz and Richard Sears. Her dearest love, Robert Schenke, preceded her in death having been happily married for almost 55 years. Loretta lived in Chicago for 79 years and moved to Sugar Grove in December of2017.
She also leaves behind her son Joe and daughter-in law Connie, daughter Carrie Sikora and son-in-law Ron, her son Steve (Rock) and daughter-in-law Laura, her nine grandchildren Ronnie Sikora, Tyler Schenke, Matt Sikora, Curtis Schenke, Spencer Sikora, Kayla Walts, Ethan Schenke, Carter Schenke, Brendon Schenke, and her ten great-grandchildren, Aayden Bernard, Jetson Walts, Maddox Schenke, Bryce Sikora, Joey Walts, Brixen Schenke, Owen Schenke, Sawyer Schenke, Oaklyn-Loretta Schenke and Silas Schenke.
Loretta will be most remembered for her unconditional love for her family and her kind heart toward others. Her children, whether by blood or marriage, were forever loved, welcomed and supported. She knew how to love and made it easy to talk to her about any and everything. She will be desperately missed and so will her influence for good upon their lives.
Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her heart and joy. One only needs to look around her living room and see that Grams GiGi s or GGma's house was the place where each was cherished and welcomed. She was in turn adored by each one and never stopped making them smile.
No one was ever a stranger, she welcomed you into her home with laughter, sass and scrumptious food. Loretta loved the kitchen and teaching her children, grandchildren and friends all her wonderful recipes that continue now through three generations. She knew your favorite dish and would be sure to make it when you came over.
Her cooking skills were also enjoyed by her co workers at the Mayfair Public Library in Chicago where she worked as a librarian for almost 20 years. She loved books and passed that love of reading to her grandchildren and the local patrons. Anywhere she went she developed deep friendships. She loved fiercely and was loved just as fiercely.
In the past couple of years, Loretta battled through some health struggles. While she will be greatly missed, her family is comforted knowing that she is now pain free in her perfect heavenly body!
Family and friends are invited for visitation from 2:00 pm 8:00 pm on Wednesday, August 24 at The Healy Chapel, 370 Division Drive, Sugar Grove, IL. A Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Thursday, August 25 at St. Katharine Drexel Church, 8S055 Dugan Rd., Sugar Grove, IL 60554. Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, IL.
