Loretta Serowik

Loretta Serowik, previously Adamek, of Somerdale, NJ passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025 at the age of 94. She was the devoted wife to the late Walter A. Serowik and beloved mother to her two daughters Susan and Sandie, as well as to their husbands, Russell Alexander and Dr. John Fontanetta respectively. She leaves behind four cherished grandchildren: Alexandra, Anthony, Andrea and Andrew.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing from 9:45-10:45 am on Saturday February 8, 2025 at St. Agnes Church, Our Lady of Hope Parish (701 Little Gloucester Road, Blackwood NJ). A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 11:00 am. Entombment will take place following this Mass at St. Joseph Cemetery in Blackwood, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Magdalen R.C. Church located at 105 Mine Street in Flemington, NJ. Arrangements will be made by Evoy-Banasz Funeral Home in Haddon Heights, NJ.
Loretta, a mother of two and a grandmother of four, was a woman who centered her life around the lives of others. She found tremendous joy in the happiness and success of those around her and was always quick to put the needs of others first. Her quiet, cheerful, steady nature taught her grandchildren the power that selfless, steadfast nurturing can have on bringing out the best in others. A woman like Loretta's legacy is found in the ongoing success of those whose lives she has unforgettably touched, like those of her grandchildren, for although her humble nature would never let her take credit in life, she deserves immeasurable thanks and recognition. Her life epitomizes the unique and irreplaceable impact mothers and grandmothers alone can have on the direction of others' lives.
Loretta was also a woman of great faith. In younger years, she frequently attended daily Mass, taught CCD class to young children, and prayed the Rosary daily. She actively participated in her Catholic faith and instilled these values in her children and grandchildren.
Additionally, Loretta had a passion for travel and adventure. Her daughters have fond memories of trips to Florida and day excursions to Ocean City. In later years, she and Walter developed a love for train trips, visiting national parks as far away as Alaska. Her love of travel and family even enabled her to overcome her fear of flying, allowing her to visit family inaccessible by train.
Today we are comforted by the knowledge that she has embarked on her final and greatest adventure, where she will be united with God. May she rest in peace, never to be forgotten, her memory forever cherished.
