Walter Serowik Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Evoy-Banasz Funeral Home on Nov. 11, 2023.
Walter A. Serowik was born in Camden, NJ on July 22nd, 1932 to Alexander and Mary Serowik. He grew up with one brother, Joseph, and three sisters- Helen, Alice and Mary. He served his country during the Korean War and then worked as the Manager of the Philadelphia Handle Company until 1995. On May 10, 1953 he married Loretta Adamek. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Susan and Sandie.
Walter is most remembered for his devotion to his four grandchildren- Alexandra, Anthony, Andrea and Andrew. He ensured their childhoods were enriched with baking adventures, fishing expeditions, and Easter egg hunts. He taught them how to erect treehouses, garden, and design birdfeeders. He introduced them to the thrills of old westerns and the delectability of homemade perogies topped with sauerkraut. He took them on woodland excursions to pick mushrooms and built them shelves for their bedrooms. Most importantly, though, he exemplified the value of being steadfast, always an unshakable rock for those around him.
Walter passed away peacefully on November 7th, 2023. He will be as deeply missed in death as he was loved in life. He is survived by his wife, both of his daughters, his two sons-in-law, Russ Alexander and Dr. John Fontanetta and his four grandchildren. Although gone, he will never be forgotten; his memory will survive through his grandchildren, who will go on to teach their own children how to construct forts, jar pickles, play penny poker, and rescue beached horseshoe crabs. May he rest in peace with the Lord.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing 10:00-11:15a.m., Tuesday, November 14th, 2023, St. Agnes Church, Our Lady of Hope Parish, 701 Little Gloucester Road, Blackwood NJ where a Mass of Resurrection will follow at 11:30a.m. Entombment St. Joseph Cemetery, Blackwood, NJ.
