Mrs. Strickland was born on April 11, 1943 in Johnston County to the late Hedley and Kitty Moore Gilmore. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Strickland, grandson, Justin Strickland, four brothers, and one sister. Prior to retirement, she was a customer service representative. After retirement she had her favorite job which was taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to dance, work puzzles, craft, and was an excellent cook. She was well known for being late to everything but she was sure to make memories once she arrived. She loved and cared for everyone in her life and became “Granny” to many. She instilled that love and faith in her children and grandchildren who she adored. She spoke often of her loving husband, Ray. Though her family will miss her, they find comfort in knowing that she is reunited with her loved ones who she has missed, especially Ray and Justin.
Survivors include her daughter, Cindy Chapman and husband, Larry; son, Chris Strickland; grandchildren, Kellie Kinlaw and husband, Logan, Kasie Odham and husband, Hunter, Karrie Huston and husband, Shane, Brittney Strickland (wife of Justin), Melissa Strickland, Blake Chapman, and Faith Chapman; ten great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM prior to the service at Restoration Church.
The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers.
