Loretta Canavan Sturdy, 85 years young. Devoted mother of Mary (Rick) Zarnecki, Kathleen (Terry) Mulrenin, Therese (Dave) Scifres, and Buffy Sturdy; Proud grandmother of TJ, Jill, Matt, Rachel, Kara, Trevor, Anne, Jacob, Claire, and Max; Great-grandmother to her 21 treasures; Loving daughter of the late Bob and Mary (Haney) Canavan; Dearest sister of Gerri (the late Jim) Davidson, late Bob (Val) Canavan, late Bill Canavan, late Peg (the late Bill) Koehler, Jack (Maureen) Canavan, Mary Therese (Shawn) McGinnis, and also survived by many wonderful nieces, nephews, especially Godchildren Michael Koehler and Erin Burzinski and many cherished friends. Lori was born and raised in Canaryville, on the Southside of Chicago and raised her four daughters in Oak Lawn, IL, where she provided a loving home for 57 years. Lori had a fun-loving, happy spirit which resonated throughout bunco nights, girlfriend luncheons, and family time. Her laughter contagious, her wit infectious. Lori worked hard as a dedicated registered nurse, and lived simply. She was wise, resourceful, and capable. She was happiest when serving others, making a positive impact on the lives of many. Lori was a woman of Faith, who lived out the Word spreading joy and love everywhere she went, sharing kind words with everyone she met. Visitation Sunday, August 18th, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Curley Funeral Home, 6116 W. 111th St., Chicago Ridge, IL 60415. Funeral Monday, August 19th, all Family and Friends to meet directly at St. Gerald Catholic Church, 9310 S.55th Court, Oak Lawn, IL 60453, Mass 10:30 a.m. Private interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery at a later date.
