Brit M. Sturdy, 77, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away on March 1, 2025.
Brit was born on October 21, 1947, in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. After Brit graduated from Lincoln High School in 1965, he went to the Arkansas University in Fayetteville, Arkansas and majored in Education. Brit taught history at Prairie Grove High School before joining the United States Air Force as an officer in1972. He stayed in the military for 22 years before retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Being unsatisfied with retirement, Brit went to work for BNSF for another 11 years, before retiring as Director of Train Operations.
Brit enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling, watching college football, but mostly spending time with his friends, children and grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents (James Leroy Sturdy and Geraldine Elizabeth Sturdy), sister Joni Sparks, and wife Debbie Sturdy.
He is survived by sisters Jody Carlton (Richard) and Jamie Reed (Paul Don), his daughter Dana Uttley (Paul), son Bart Sturdy (Rachel), and stepsons Matt and Spencer Seplak (Amy) and grandchildren Logan (Katie), Libbie (Cainaan), Lane, Ava, Jane, Aria, and Luke.
Services will be held at Alliance Methodist Church at 10:00 on March 10. Brit's burial will occur at 1:00 on March 11 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery with military honors.
