On December 17, 2025, the world lost a vibrant spirit, Foster Cameron, at the age of 78, in his beloved hometown of Dallas, Texas. Born on October 18, 1947, Foster’s life journey was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and the cherished memories of family and friends.
Foster was a graduate of Lincoln High School, class of 1966, and his education began in the halls of DISD schools. His career took him through various paths, including time spent as a paper handler at the Dallas Times Herald, a printer for the Drawing Board, and later, he found joy in landscaping. No matter where life led him, Foster made a significant impact on those around him with his effervescent personality and unwavering humor.
He had a remarkable talent for making everyone feel welcome, as he was known for never meeting a stranger. Foster's light-hearted remarks and his whimsical sense of humor brought joy to every gathering, filling hearts and spaces with laughter. His wife, Mary Cameron, with whom he shared 58 wonderful years, reflects on the profound love they shared and how deeply she will miss him. Together, they built a warm and loving family that expanded over the years.
Foster is survived by his three adoring children: daughters Lisa Cameron and Nedra Cameron, and son Kevin Hurd. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, who will carry his spirit forward: Jasmine, Cidney, Jemimah, Vincent, Victoria, Claude, Summer, Krystal, Koree, Jarrell and Jarree, along with a host of great-grandchildren and extended family and friends who adored him.
Foster will forever be remembered not just for his accomplishments but for the love he shared. He was fondly known as a "shade tree mechanic" by his wife, and he thoroughly enjoyed fishing, contributing to the joyful tapestry of life he wove for his family.
Foster joins the arms of departed family members, including his mother, Elnora Johnson Compton, his father, R.D. Compton, and his brothers, R.D. Compton, Jr. and Thurman Compton, creating a reunion full of love and cherished memories.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Foster's honor on January 17, 2026, at Golden Gate Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas, beginning at 11:00 AM. As we gather to remember Foster Cameron, may we carry forward his legacy of kindness, laughter, and love, cherishing each fleeting moment, much like he always encouraged us to do.
