Elder Lawrence Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chamberland Funerals & Cremations on Jan. 10, 2026.
Willie Joe Lawrence was born on July 3, 1956, to Lera Lawrence and Jack Hall in the small, close knit town of Coolidge in Limestone County, TX. He later made his way to Dallas, where he graduated from Lincoln High School and began building the life and legacy that would touch so many.

Shortly after graduating, Willie started his career with the City of Dallas, where he dedicated 30 years of loyal service. His hard work, integrity, and commitment earned him numerous awards and the respect of everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Even after retiring, Willie never stopped working or helping others. A talented, self taught handyman, he found joy in carpentry, remodeling, and lending his skills wherever they were needed. Willie loved the Lord deeply. As an elder in his church, he was known for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering willingness to serve.

Willie will be deeply missed, but his spirit, his love, and the countless memories he leaves behind will remain forever in our hearts. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and his legacy one that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Willie is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Wanda Lawrence; his daughter, Angela Williams; his grandchildren, Kaiser Ford, Jr. and Anthony Key; his sisters, Ruth Lawrence and Suzie Lawrence; his brother, C.L. Hunter; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends.
