Loretta J. Wolfe, age 96, a resident of Gahanna, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at home.
She was a devoted wife of 73 years to John Wolfe, who passed away January 18th, 2024. Her brother Harold Bruce Hatfield (Susan) passed away in 2017.
Loving, mother to Vic (Rebecca). Jonetta Waalkens and Thomas who passed away in 2020. Also surviving are grandchildren, Weston, Michelle, Zachary (Carrie), Christine (Jaime), Liz (Zach), Joe (Baylei), Stacie, Alannah, Cassie(Bryce); great grandchildren Leyton, Heath, Walton, Hannibal, Oona, Vera, Arianna, Kolton Lydia and Oaklynn.
Loretta was born June 24, 1928 to Ted and Mildred (Rayburn) Hatfield. She graduated from Grove City High School in 1946. She attended Otterbein and Franklin University. A natural beauty, she was a Corelli model for Lazarus and a radio hostess at WHKV with Bud Gillis.
She was a longtime member of Peace Lutheran Church, Gahanna, Ohio. She taught Sunday school, played piano for the choir, attended Bible studies and Esther Circle. Loretta worked many years as an administrative assistant in the Gahanna Jefferson school district. She worked at Stygler Road Junior High and the Central office.
She was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan. She and John saw many games during the “Big Red Machine” era. “Grandma, Nana, Gigi” was the one to help with a problem, if you needed a shoulder to cry on or if you wanted her recipe for her delicious deviled eggs. Her pies were the best !She made beautiful “Bunny” quilts for every grandchild and great grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at Peace Lutheran Church 455 Clark State Rd, Gahanna, OH 43230 Friday, September 13, 2024 at 11 am.
