Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc. - West ReadingLori P. Brunelle, 65, of Reading, passed away on October 29, 2025 at the Reading Hospital surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Reading to the late Frederick and Harriet (Olsommer) Merkel, Lori graduated from Governor Mifflin High School in 1978. She exemplified a strong work ethic throughout her over 40-year career with Constellation Energy and its predecessor companies. She began her career as a security guard and rose over the years to her most recent position as Corporate Training Scheduler.
Lori was a very compassionate and selfless person who took care of the people in her life. She was an especially giving mother and a generous friend and coworker.
Lori enjoyed working in her yard and garden, volunteering at community events, trips to the casino, and hunting through yard sales. She had a passion for capturing natural moments and sharing wildlife photography with her family and friends. She enjoyed cheering her favorite Kansas City Chiefs on to victory each season. Lori also treasured her dogs, Mindy, Shadow and Bambi.
Left to cherish Lori's memory is her son, Robert Schurr, with whom she resided; her sisters, Dellawanna Bard (Nelson) of Leola and Darlene DeLessio of White Haven; her brother, Lonnie Merkel (Danielle) of Mohnton; and several nieces and nephews and their families.
Also holding Lori's memory dear are Gabriel Hickey of Reading, whom Lori treated like a second son, and Shirin Coglon of Dumfries, Scotland, who was like a daughter to Lori.
In addition to her parents, Lori was predeceased by her sister, Kandy Merkel, and her former husband, Michael Brunelle, for whom Lori was the primary caregiver for many years.
A Celebration of Life for Lori will be held on Friday, Nov. 21 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Gianni's Catering and Events, located at 1445 East Schuylkill Rd, Pottstown, PA. All are welcome.
