Lori Ann Van Leeuwen
(1965-2023)
Lori Ann Van Leeuwen our beloved sister and aunt "Aunt Lolo" unexpectedly, though
peacefully passed away December 4th, 2023, surrounded by her remaining loving family.
She fought valiantly to the end with her lion's heart and her bullish taurus mind,
persevering fourfold than expected, given her circumstances.
Lori was born on the 1st of May, 1965 in the city of Salt Lake to Georgia Ann and Ray
Van Leeuwen. She grew up and was educated in the west desert of Dugway (DPG),
Utah where she graduated Dugway High school. She loved horseback riding, drill team
D-ettes, and hanging out with loyal friends. Most all her working career was spent
working either under or for DOD Army as a civilian, working for Lockheed Martin, then
later being directly employed into Civil Service. She enjoyed her job with all that it
entailed from getting to travel around the world, to hanging from helicopters. She was a
lover of animals, loved fishing and camping with her family, and gardening.
She is survived by her sister Robyn Mailhot McCown, brother and sister-in-law James
"Jim" and Jo Michelle Van Leeuwen, and her two nieces Linzi and Emily Van Leeuwen.
Additionally, three half-brothers, Kirk, Spence and Joel Van Leeuwen. Preceded in
death by mother Georgia Van Leeuwen and sadly recently deceased our brother Mark
Allen Mailhot and brother-in-law Lee McCown.
We all miss our mother's presence; Lori missed her mother Georgia tremendously.
We'll forever miss Lori's presence, from her sincere smiles, warm hugs and big-hearted
love, our lives will never be the same, a reserved void that can never be filled by no
other.
There will be a funeral mass on December 15th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Marguerite Church
located at 15 South and 7th Street, Tooele Utah.
