James Melvin Fowler, a longtime resident of Grantsville, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 18, 2025, at the age of 94.

Born on May 28, 1931, in Mize, Georgia, Jim was the fourth of six children and the only son of Theodore Roosevelt and Nena Christine Campbell Fowler.

In December 1948, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Army and was assigned to the 7th Chemical Depot Company (Red Diamond), stationed at the Deseret Chemical Center in Tooele County, Utah. He later served a tour of duty with the World War II occupational forces in Kirchheimbolanden, Germany.

While stationed in Tooele County in 1951, Jim met and married the late Lucy Ila Hammond of Grantsville. Together they built a home in Grantsville, where Jim lived for the rest of his life. Jim and Lucy were blessed with four children: Linda (Gene) Cook, Ron (Lupe) Fowler, the late Ray (Diane) Fowler, and Laurie (Steve) Cozart.

Jim worked for the U.S. Government, retiring after 38 years of faithful service. He also owned and operated Fowler TV Service, proudly serving Tooele County and surrounding communities as an electronics repair technician for more than twenty years.

Jim and Lucy's legacy continues through their four children, 14 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren, all of whom loved him dearly and will miss him profoundly.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Grantsville 12th Ward, 428 South Hale Street, Grantsville, Utah. A viewing will be held from 10:00-10:45 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at the Grantsville City Cemetery, where Jim will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Lucy.
