Lori was born on September 16th, 1957 and passed away on
March 31st, 2025 at the age of 67Lori Dee Lyon, born September 16, 1957, passed away on March 31, 2025, in Yakima, Washington. Her family were all beside her. Lori was born in Grangeville, Idaho, and lived in Colorado and Maine, among many other places, during her 67 years.
Her life was one of deep compassion for people and animals. She was educated and worked as a veterinary technician and nursing assistant, with her last and longest career being one of caring for the mentally and physically disabled in La Grande and Pendleton, Oregon, and lastly Yakima, Washington.
She loved her many feline companions over the years and had deep affection for any and all animals. She was kind to every person who crossed her path. One of her greatest joys was giving generous gifts to her friends and family, including seven grandnieces and nephews. She was a gentle, humble and loving soul, caring more for others than for herself. She had a very close personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
She is survived by two sisters: Elizabeth Drees (John), and Lynda James (Steve); niece and nephew: Susie Stone (Gregory) and Matthew James (Gaby); and seven grandnieces and grandnephews: Caleb, Titus, Solomon, and Melody Stone; Elias, Josiah, and Abigail James.
Predeceased family members included her mother Lois Bellis, father Warren Bellis, and beloved brother Gary Lyon.
Per Lori's wishes, her body was donated to benefit the education of future doctors. There will be a private ceremony dispersing her ashes in a favorite childhood place, Lake Coeur d'ALene, Idaho. In lieu of flowers and donations may be made to the ASPCA.
