Lori Lea Milligan, 62, of Richmond, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, December 28, 2024, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
Lori was born on December 31, 1961, in Chillicothe, the daughter of Robert Deryl "Bob" and Joyce Elaine (Stoner) Lobb. She was united in marriage to Tommy Lee "Tom" Milligan of Richmond on September 18, 2004; he survives of the home.
Additional survivors include: daughter, Kara (Tyler) Meyer; four step sons: Zach (Ashley) Milligan, Matthew (Kelly) Milligan, Lance (Katelyn) Milligan, and Luke (Darlene) Milligan; nine grandchildren: Aliya Milligan, Jaidyn Milligan, Layne Stewart, Whitley Meyer, Asher Milligan, Weston Meyer, Kyler Milligan, Asa Milligan, and one on-the-way, Avery Rose; brother, Robert Thomas "Tommy" (Julie) Lobb; two sisters, Jill Elaine (Mike) McClure and Kimberly Ann (Mark) Templeton; father-in-law, Jim (Zelpha) Milligan; mother-in-law, Ruth Daughters; and step-mother, Betty Lou Lobb; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law, Tony Stewart, and niece, Abby Templeton.
Lori was raised and educated in the towns where her father served as superintendent. She began her schooling in Chillicothe, attending kindergarten there, before moving to Norborne, where she completed first grade through high school, graduating with the class of 1980.
Lori was a vibrant and hardworking individual who couldn't sit still; she was always busy and took pride in maintaining a home that looked like it belonged in a magazine. Her dedication to excellence extended to her work as well. Lori served as a secretary for the Catholic Diocese, representing the areas of Richmond, Lexington, Excelsior Springs, and Plattsburg. She also held the position of secretary for the First Baptist Church of Norborne, where she had been a lifelong member.
At the churches, Lori's role went far beyond administrative tasks. She had a gift for creating order and beauty wherever she went, always tidying up, organizing, and ensuring everything ran smoothly-just as she did at home. A devoted Christian, Lori's life reflected her faith as she tirelessly did God's work and brought joy and care to those around her.
Lori was the cornerstone of her family, always ready to lend a helping hand. She was the problem-solver, the one everyone turned to in times of need. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Lori cherished her family above all else. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, who brought her immense joy.
Lori had a passion for travel and had been on many memorable trips, often alongside her husband. She enjoyed gardening and canning, sharing the fruits of her labor with loved ones. She enjoyed camping throughout her life.
Lori's unwavering love, selflessness, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Cowgill Cemetery. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.
