Lori "Sam" Sather, 57, of Gwinn, died Monday afternoon, October 5, 2015, at home with her family by her side and under the care of Lake Superior Hospice. She was born April 21, 1958 in Ypsilanti, Michigan, a daughter of Hank and Evelyn (Garceau) Normand and was a lifelong area resident. On October 20, 2013 she married Aaron Sather in Gwinn. Her oldest son Justin officiated the marriage ceremony. Lori was employed as a bartender for many years and had worked at various taverns. Most recently, she found her calling working as a caregiver for handicapped adults with Adult Learning Systems. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR and participated in pool league through the years. Most of all she enjoyed chatting with people. Lori is survived by her husband, Aaron Sather of Gwinn; sons, Justin (Amber McGuire) Sather of Gwinn and Ryan (Kayla Pelkola) Sather of Abilene, TX; grandchildren, Jensen Sather & Anessa McGuire; father, Hank Normand of Marquette; siblings, Teresa (Lorenz) Butterfield of Little Lake and Timothy Normand of Gwinn; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn. A celebration of Lori's life will be held at the Gwinn VFW Saturday, October 17th 2015 from 6pm to 11pm. The Canale-Gwinn Funeral Home is assisting the family where memories may be shared at canalefuneral.com
