Lorie Bates, 61, of Hawley, PA, passed away on January 19, 2024 after 10 years of fighting her Rare Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency and COPD. She was born on March 13, 1962, in Middletown, NY. Lorie will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Lorie had a vibrant personality and was known for her sense of humor. She had a knack for making people laugh and
brightening up any room she walked into. Lorie was also known for her stubbornness, which only served to make her more endearing. She had a loving and kind heart, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Lorie's strength and resilience were admired by everyone who knew her.
Lorie is survived by her Children a son, John Bates, and daughter in law Anissa Bates also her daughters, Jeri and Keri Decker, as well as a brother, Richard Bates and many nieces and nephews. While she never had grandchildren children of her own, she took great pride of her four legged fur grandchildren. Lorie had a close bond with her family and cherished the time spent with them.
Lorie was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Myrna (Cox) Bates, as well as her siblings, Cindy, Melinda, and Dana. Although she is no longer with us, Lorie's memory will live on in the hearts of her loved ones.
Lorie dedicated many years of her life to her career at Walmart in Honesdale. She joined the company when the store first opened and remained a dedicated employee until 2007. After She worked at a local Animal shelter until she got sick. Lorie's hard work and commitment were evident in everything she did, and she was highly respected.
Lorie Bates will be remembered as a funny, stubborn, loving, kind, and strong individual. Her presence brought joy and laughter to those around her, and her memory will forever be engraved in the hearts of her loved ones. May she rest in peace.
At her request, there will be no services. She wanted Everyone to remember her as she was to remember the good times.
