Lorna Arlene was born on August 25, 1929, at Maurice, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Adrianne (Schuller) Kots. She grew up on the family farm near Maurice and attended Maurice Public School through the eighth grade. On August 25, 1950, she was united in marriage to Charlie Delphine (Del) Koel at the Little Brown Church. They made their home in Sanborn and then moved to a farm near Maurice where Del lived. Their son, Harvey was born there in 1953. The family moved to a farm near Winfred, SD in 1955 and that's where their two daughters, Leann and Renae, were born.
They lived on the farm near Winfred until 2008 when they moved into Madison. Del passed away on September 29, 2017. She was also preceded in death by 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
Lorna is survived by her three children; her six grandchildren; her eight great-grandchildren; her brother, Darwin (Marlene) Kots of Iowa; one sister-in-law, Anna Jansen of Hull, IA; one brother-in-law, Derrick (Sally) Koel of Sioux Center, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
