Lorna Dasalla Tuazon was born on July 8, 1963, in the province of Ilocos Sur, Philippines. She was a loved sister, wife, aunt, daughter, and a devoted mother of 2 sons; Adam (32) and Logan (23). On February 6th, she passed away due to her courageous battle with ovarian cancer. As her last wish, she peacefully passed in the comfort of her cherished home, surrounded by all her loved ones. For Lorna, the presence of family was paramount to the key moments in her life.Lorna was one of sixteen children of Amy and David Dasalla. She and her family lived in the Philippines throughout most of her childhood and teenage years. In 1979, in search of better opportunities, her family made the life-changing decision to immigrate to the United States. They settled in Lake Tahoe, where her parents sought work. In 1983, she graduated high school there. At the time, Lake Tahoe lacked a nearby college. In pursuit of further education, Lorna made the pivotal decision to move to San Francisco alongside a few of her siblings in 1984.It was in San Francisco that Lorna’s life would take a beautiful turn. In 1985, by serendipitous twist of fate, she met her first love and the love of her life, (June) Apolinario Tuazon Jr. Their bond was immediate, and their future together was set in stone. They got married back in Lake Tahoe on April 28th, 1991—going on to share 33 years. Between balancing work and school, her determination and resilience allowed her to finish her education. By 1989, she earned her certificate in Cosmetology at Skyline College. Due to the cost of living, she and her husband decided to take the next chapter of their life to Sacramento in 1991.Sacramento became her true home—a place where she built a loving family and successful career. She gave birth and raised two sons. Lorna continued to be a well-respected cosmetologist building lasting relationships with her clients for over 30 years. It’s a testament to her passion for making others look and feel beautiful. Even through her personal life, she has been such a light to others. An infectious warmth that everyone gravitates towards. A light that burned bright, but burned too fast.Even as she bravely fought cancer, she was a pillar of optimism and selflessness. She fought not just for herself, but for her family, whose love and support fueled her through the toughest of times. She did not waver from doing what she loved—cooking, nurturing her plants, trips to the casino, and traveling with her loved ones.At 61 years old, she has had a bountiful life—filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments with those she held dear. Lorna’s legacy will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and everyone who had the honor of knowing her.
