Lorraine Anderson Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
Lorraine Patricia Anderson, 92, passed away from this earthly life on May 11, 2025.
Lorraine Patricia Dolphyn was born in Mt. Clemens, Michigan on March 5, 1933 to late parents Zoe (DeKetelaere) and Roger Dolphyn, who (both) immigrated from Belgium to the United States at the turn of the century. She was named after the Alsace-Lorraine region in France. She attended Grade School at St. John Berchmans - a Catholic church and school that was founded in 1923 in a rapidly developing Belgian immigrant neighborhood in Detroit. She attended Dominican High School, a Catholic Preparatory Academy in Detroit. She went on to attend Michigan State University.
While spending time at her family's cottage in Oscoda, Michigan, she met her future husband, Elwood Grant Anderson, who was from Harrisville, Michigan at the time. They were married in Detroit on August 1, 1952 and raised six children. They remained married for seventy-three years and until the time of her passing. Lorraine lived in Detroit for most of her adult life before moving with the family to Alpena, Michigan.
Lorraine was a generous, loving, and devoted mother who raised her children to appreciate hard work and the value of a good education. In them, she instilled a love for learning, the commitment to pursue excellence, to stand up for what you believe in, and to remain moored in values and ideals that promote sound, well-reasoned convictions. She raised individuals who would work hard to pursue excellence and earn degrees in health, law, business, and education. She also had a great appreciation for the arts and travel. Lorraine greatly enjoyed trips to many cities in Belgium - the birthplaces of her parents and all four grandparents and those in her ancestral lineage. She also enjoyed her travels to England, Scotland, and Canada. She was artistically gifted and created lovely watercolor paintings. Her love for dogs was abundant, as evidenced by welcoming several Irish Setters into her home over the years as loyal companions.
Lorraine is survived by her husband, Elwood Anderson; daughter, Rogill Clute; sons: Roger Anderson (Deirdre), Thomas Anderson, John Anderson (Lacy), and Paul Anderson; grandchildren: Ryonn Clute-Drobney (Chris), Liam Anderson (Ashley), and Nora Anderson-Schick (Dane); Jack Anderson; Harry Anderson; Maya Anderson; three great grandchildren: Remy Drobney, Fiona Anderson, and Rowan Schick; sisters: Carolyn McNichol (Hamilton) and Sandra McNichol ( James); nieces and nephews. Lorraine was preceded in death by: son, Allen George Anderson; grandson, Peter Frederick Jennings Clute.
A private family graveside service will take place at Springport Cemetery in Harrisville, Michigan, coordinated with Bannan Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Huron Humane Society.
