Valerie Lynn Alexander, 62, of Alpena died September 4, 2025, of an apparent heart attack. Valerie Lynn LaCross was born August 24, 1963. to Daniel and Patricia (Kasubowski) LaCross in Alpena, Michigan.
She lived most of her short life in Alpena and graduated from Alpena High School in 1981. Valerie then went to Alpena Community College and became a LPN working in Petoskey and Alpena. She has two children, Jordan (Emily) Alexander and Sarah (Mike) Diemer. Also, two granddaughters, Carlie Jane and Madelynn May Alexander. She is survived by her mother, Pat LaCross; three sisters, Janice (Butch) Grochowski, Anne Buchanan, Jackie (Walter) Maurer; aunt Leona Hoppe, uncle Carl (Lenore) Kasubowski; many cousins, nieces, nephews; and her dogs, Bella and Fancy.
Valerie had many friends and animals – dogs, cats, even ducks, and chickens. She enjoyed reading and helping others. She was a 5 year cancer survivor.
She was preceded in death by her father, Daniel LaCross and grandparents.
Memorial visitation will take place Thursday at Bannan Funeral Home from 12 p.m. until the memorial service at 3 p.m. with Deacon Michael Roy officiating.
